A logbook that offers a unique journey of rediscovery, extending beyond the sailboat, the sea, and the art of sailing itself. Day after day, Davide Besana captures the essence of his adventure in watercolours, as traditionally practised. In 2022, Davide Besana embarked on an expedition along the Tyrrhenian coasts aboard his forty-year-old boat, with no haste, intending to explore that which he had overlooked during his previous years of consumerist-paced sea travel. Setting sail from Naples in May, he spent five months navigating these waters, often in solitude, covering a distance of over two thousand miles of Tyrrhenian coast, Sicily and Sardinia. Along his journey he also held sailing and drawing lessons for children under the care of Save the Children and the Italian Naval League, in order to share his passion for the sea, but also the importance of communication and doing things together.
Davide Besana is a well-known illustrator and author with a focus on sailing. He has published numerous illustrated books, worked as an illustrator for sailing magazines, and collaborated with Nutrimenti on several publications. Since 2015, he has lived in a village near the sea, close to his beloved boats.
